Here’s what happened environmentally in Israel, Jordan, and Palestine this week:
An interim report published by a Knesset committee of inquiry into Israel’s water crisis slammed the government for not taking enough long-term action to manage the country’s water resources sustainably. The report also said that desalination is a “no-other-choice solution.”
In Jordan, new Water and Irrigation Minister Mohammaad Najjar emphasized that it is time for Jordan to start working on the Red-Dead conveyance project.
Also in Jordan, this week’s heavy rain helped boost the level of the country’s dams.
In Palestine, the Central Bureau of Statistics released the results of a new household energy and environmental survey showing that Palestinians are using less electricity, more gas and petroleum, and decreasing their use of solar energy.
